Man arrested following drug haul in Lucan
A man has been arrested following a drug seizures in Lucan in Dublin yesterday evening. Gardaí recovered around 15 kilos of heroin with a street value of €2.25m, during a search of a house in Lucan. A 37-year-old man was arrested and is being detained at Clondalkin garda station.

Body discovered in Dublin this morning
Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a man’s body in Dublin this morning. The man was found at the Cookstown Industrial Estate at around 9am, and the scene has been preserved for a technical examination. His remains are still at the scene, and a post mortem will be carried out later. Gardaí say they are not treating his death as suspicious.

Dublin man sentanced to life for murder
Dublin man Wayne Kinsella has been found guilty of the murder of Adel Essalhi in Tyrellstown last year. The victim was violently killed with a machete in West Dublin in January of last year. There was clapping and cheering in the court as the jury returned their unanimous guilty verdict. Kinsella has been sentenced to life in prison.

More than a third of childlines calls go...
More than 800 phone calls from youngsters in desperate need of support went unheard every day last year, a children’s charity has revealed. The ISPCC’s Childline helpline received about 2,360 calls and messages a day in 2011, but more than a third of calls went unanswered. The charity claimed poor funding was the biggest barrier to manning the phones and taking every call.

Suspect arrested over Sherrard Street death
Gardai are continuing to question a man in his 40s in connection with the death of a woman in Drumcondra. The 37-year-old died at the Mater Hospital on Saturday after she was found savagely beaten at an apartment on Sherrard Street. The suspect was arrested in the city yesterday afternoon and he’s been held at Mountjoy Garda Station. The results of a post mortem will be made known later.

Mortgage lending between January and March this year is down fromt the same period last year. Over 2 and a half thousand new issues were issued in the first quarter of this year – 19.3 per cent lower than the same period 2011.
