Tainiste Wants a Better Deal on Our Bank Debt

Tainiste Eamon Gilmore says Ireland needs a better deal on its bank debt.

Speaking following the passing of the EU Fiscal Treaty, the Tainiste said: this decision taken by the Irish people is a necessary step on the road to recovery but we now have to build on it,”

Mr Gilmore says he wants to see progress on the issue of our banking debts.

Fine Gael’s Dublin South TD Peter Matthews is supporting Eamon Gilmore’s call for a better deal on our bank debt.

Mr Matthews says it’s a necessary step to aid struggling householders.

Dublin South TD Peter Matthews Cautioned by Taoiseach

Dublin South TD Peter Matthews has been cautioned by Taoiseach Enda Kenny, over a contraversial vote during a Finance Committee.

Deputy Matthews provoked a motion which demanded that the Governor of the Central Bank attend a Finance Committe Meeting, before the payment of the €3.1 billion promissory note debt.

The motion passed against the wishes of the Government, after 2 Fine Gael commmitte members were locked outside the committee room during the vote.

However, it’s not thought that Deputy Matthews will lose the party whip or be otherwise punished.
